There are many books that I recommend and find highly valuable for discussion among people asking the questions we are all asking. However, there are 2 that I would propose we read together at the moment...
First, the Divine Conspiracy by Dallas Willard. Several of you have already mentioned wanting to read it and we're just trying to organise a time. This book is so good and practical about the Kingdom. However, it is weighty and one can get lost in reading it (Cori, don't be too scared ;). That's why I think it must be read and discussed with others. Discussion also keeps it from being an intellectual exercise. In conversation we find how to apply in our context.
The other book is The Shaping of Things to Come by Michael Frost and Alan Hirsch. Absolutely brilliant on the changing realities of our culture and how the Church must responds. Also asks very good questions on how we do things and casts a vision of Church in a different way. Our community is going to be reading this over the next month and a half, so I would love to bring others into that - either discussing with us on a weekly basis or creating other reading groups so lots of people are reading and discussing.
Anyone interested in reading/discussing either of these books? Let me know...
