Missional Synchroblog

Today a group of 50 bloggers are blogging about the term "missional". A few South Africans are participating, and my contribution (with links to the others) may be found here.

In calling for a missional synchroblog Rick Meigs says:

"I have a continuing concern that the term missional has become over used and wrongly used….I think it is time to make a bigger effort to reclaim the term, a term which describe what happens when you and I replace the “come to us” invitations with a “go to them” life. A life where “the way of Jesus” informs and radically transforms our existence to one wholly focused on sacrificially living for him and others and where we adopt a missionary stance in relation to our culture. It speaks of the very nature of the Jesus follower."

Rick also says quite a bit about the word “missional” on his Web page Friend of Missional.

deary deary me

Aah but this is submerging africa - its mostly the sound of envoy crying in the wilderness and lots of scudding tumbleweed, not exactly a main crossroads for communication.

I guess the mission to inform us has not yet started. Come to think of it, I didn't receive an invite either. So its not invitational, but its not missional either - DOH - now I understand, it's a contemplative website.

Envoy, have you been skipping your quiet times again?

Quiet times? Tumbleweed? Are they scud launching tumbleweed? Yeah, I was hinting at it being fair to inform on this site too, though the synchro already has way to many for any kind of meaningful reading on my part beyond the few who's names I recognise ;)
